Additional Video - Shows Nasty Flow into Lake Whatcom

"Bald Guy" submitted this today, pointing out that it's one of the most striking of the videos available (see the earlier post)
(YouTube caption)   Taken 7-17-12 at the mouth of Anderson Creek the outlet into Lake Whatcom which is the point Bellingham water districts diversion enters Lake Whatcom.   Bellingham was pumping as this video is taken.  See for yourself what it looks like on the other videos posted the same day.   Or look for yourself.  It’s easy to see along the Parks Road just above Mirror Lake.

(Again, here's a link to the whole group of videos.)

As for what's allowable, we've learned that there actually are regulations that apply, even to government:

"...if the receiving water is a Section 303 (d) impaired water, the COCs that impair the water must also be monitored..."    (COC = contaminants of concern)

"...you can find the standards at the following URL:
                         http://www.ecy.wa.gov/programs/wq/swqs/index.html

"...This URL also discusses the “antidegradation” policy, which means no matter what the source, you cannot impact the water quality of the “receiving water”

"Bottom line, per the water quality codes, no human can impact the water quality of a surface water feature ..."

We'll keep sharing what we learn.   Here's to science, reason, and truth.

Certainly if the City of Bellingham is contributing to the alleged water quality problems in Lake Whatcom, then by all means they should share the blame with the hapless citizens who just happen to own property in the watershed.

My guess is, if there is blame to be had, it would be more likely to be due to someone actively pumping into the lake, and not so much storm water runoff from landowners simply trying to enjoy the fruits of their labor.

Personally, I think what I'm seeing is insignificant but if a citizen was releasing something like this or a tenth this much it would be a federal case level case with tens of thousands of dollars of fines. Where is miss morganhill with her subjective policy in this case.? Where is our court executive ? Or maybe we can look at this for what it appears to be random enforcement and of course the law doesn't apply when it doesn't fit the objective of reducing a citizens rights to use there property.

Where is resources ? They have been patrolling the watershed for 10 years and this has not been a secret but then I guess the collusion between DOE , Whatcom county , city of Bellingham critical area bureaucrats and resources wouldn't result in any fines or headlines to share so why bother. Reminds of that sweetness and light xtramormal video that was around a few weeks ago.

Is this a Clean Water Act violation ? 35k fine per day . Where is robin of Huxley and her quest to convince us her outstanding study of the lake? How about Our former planning director or dubrow. How could they be focused on coal dust when this wanton destruction has been known about for years.
These folks serve no purpose other than their own,

Nobody can know if this is "insignificant" if the schmutz isn't being measured or tested, right? There area laws against "degradation" that do apply. Should these regs apply to citizens but not to government? We have had moratoriums in place for years in the watershed that require people to not only have zero effect ("no net loss") but 'restore" the environment. Ever see the "110%" language in the ordinance(s)? It's a ripoff to say the least if the City's pumping who knows what straight into the water. Wake up people!
