Reader Request: Stomp For Your Candidates, Please! (Forum)

3/1/2012

Although WE focus on bringing local issues to light, a number of readers have requested space to stump for their favorite candidates.   The GOP caucuses will be held this coming Saturday March 3, and the Democrat caucuses will be April 15.    (Tax Day, was that deliberate?)  If you want to lay down a little screed click on the "Comments" link above, then scroll down and "Leave A Reply."   Our Posting Rules allow you to use your favorite nickname.

Here's your chance to share what sold you on whom-ever, what's wrong with the other jerk, or what you think of the whole sordid process.   We'll approve everything short of "gratuitous profanity and ad-hominem attacks."    So stomp away, though being brief and to the point is probably best.

Thanks for providing this great community service. If I may be a guest contributor please consider publishing my comment along with the following plea...

There is only one truly fiscally conservative candidate to run for the presidency for many many years. Fortunately for America he is running again this year. The latest WSJ article entitled "Report says candidates' plans boost federal debt" underscores this fact which I encourage you to read.

So far, since we left the gold standard, each and every president regardless of party has heaped the massive expenses of their own policies right on top of the preceding president's debt-ridden policies - any national debt chart proves this fact.

Our national debt is currently running at 70% of GDP. The federal government has NEVER in the history of America been able to collect more than 20% of GDP. This is akin to a person who cannot make more than 20,000 dollars a year but is 70,000 dollars in debt and they overspend every single year. It leads ONLY to financial ruin.

Our present course, the responsibility of presidents and congresses controlled by BOTH major parties at different times over the last 40 years or so, is destroying America.

Our ONLY chance to save America is to roll back all these debt-ridden policies and the departments they created and there is only one man currently willing to sacrifice to make this happen. His name is Ron Paul.

Come support him at your precinct caucus. Bring your spouse, your neighbors. Anyone who's registered to vote in your precinct can attend and help save America.

Precinct Caucuses will be held this Saturday March 3rd at 10:00 AM.

The situation is dire. The time is now for all good citizens to come to the aid of their country.

The campaigners talk about the need to choose between politicians and businessmen. I want something different.

What I want in the White House is a PRESIDENT - period.

We haven't had a president who understood and respected the Constitution for a long, long time -- who could do the duty with a respect for the people and the limits of the office. Is that possible?

Yep. His name is Ron Paul. Please read his book "The Revolution" and you will see why I believe in him. (any of his books are great by the way. The most recent, "Liberty defined" is a great reference on his positions).

The caucus at Rome Grange was a wonderful patriotic experience. People seemed to come from out of the woodwork to express thier opinions and cast thier votes for the candidate of their choice. Delegates were elected to the Whatcom County Republican Caucus to be held in April. There were two items voted to be added to the Whatcom County Republican Platform: extension of the voter initiatives to extend from two years to 5 years; and, the removal of "Agenda 21" and ICLEA mandates from our local, state and fedreal governments.

How good can it get!

Why democrats should vote for Santorum.

One of the most passionate debates in bi-partisan politics is the subject of abortion. Santorum's stance couldn't be clearer. He funds planned-parenthood which funds abortion and so he is the friend of abortion promoters everywhere.

Republicans believe that Santorum is anti-abortion because he says he is but this only reveals Santorum's ignorance of how financing works which is easy to illustrate by example.

Lets say that you only have 1000 dollars in the bank which is what you need to pay your bills this month but you also need new truck tires. You complain to your father of your situation but your father says that he will give you 1000 dollars but you CANNOT spend it on truck tires. Whatever will you do? You will spend the 1000 dollars you had on your truck tires and the 1000 dollars your father gave you on the food and bills. Now, did your father fund your truck tire purchase or not? He did because he increased your funds so that you could afford them. Period.

As usual, politics is a matter of semantics. If you are in favor of abortion, Santorum is your man.
